Fauzi Gives Himself High Marks on End-of-Term Report Card
With the July 11 gubernatorial election just over a month away, incumbent Governor Fauzi Bowo presented an end-of-term accountability report on Thursday, touting progress on Jakarta's perennial hassles: flooding and traffic congestion. Flood-prone areas were reduced by 30 percent under his watch, and the addition of four new TransJakarta corridors and other traffic alleviation measures were paying dividends, the governor said. Some city councilors were less glowing in their appraisals of Fauzi's leadership.
