The firm anticipates the product type will lead ecommerce sales growth until 2016, eventually accounting for over 20% of all US online retail ecommerce sales. Due to the tactile nature of the products, Apparel and Accessories were once considered ill-suited for ecommerce retail, customers suggesting they preferred the immediacy of trying on a product in a traditional brick and mortar retail environment. Recent innovations in online product visualization and increasingly convenient return policies, however, account for the category's steady growth. To best capitalize off this trend, you can search for new advertisers in these business verticals in the publisher dashboard by clicking on the Programs tab -> Categories and then selecting the Clothing & Accessories category. | New Dads Could be the Next Big Buyers Online | Once considered absent from the social media (and online shopping world), new dads have been catching up to moms. A study by Edelman and The Parenting Group in February 2012 found that new dads are using social media sites as much as new moms to keep up with friends. New dads are posting photos (56%) and updates (42%) about their family on a weekly and even daily basis now. 25% of new dads are even following their favorite brands on social media sites. The shift is likely due to changing parenting roles in the home, where more dads are staying home with children and re-defining their roles at home. | Keeping Up With Digital by Leveraging New Metrics |
As digital marketing becomes more prevalent within a company's brand strategy, how to measure the success of those campaigns proves to be more of a challenge. Metrics such as click through rates and impressions seem a bit antiquated, especially considering that display ads receive less than 1% click through and 1/3 of ad impressions served aren't even in view of the user.
What today's marketers are seeking is a mix of metrics: one that includes digital measurements, but also looks deeper into engagement. New metrics, such as view through rate, which attempts to measure actual screen views or time spent within a video ad, are just some of the way marketers are trying to better evaluate their campaigns. Some are also turning to brand health surveys, especially those with multi-channel efforts.
