Did you send ♥ this Mother's Day? rahman I had to smile when I opened my email on Sunday afternoon. I noticed right away heart characters in my inbox. Two retailers perfectly implemented the use of heart characters in their subject lines to catch recipients' attentions. Using character's in your subject was a topic I had just covered in the Friday DEMC E-Magazine issue. Here's a screen shot of those marketing email messages in my inbox:
Note how the first retailer OshKosh uses a heart character in place of the word love in the subject line. The second retailer uses the heart character at the start of their subject line as an attention grabber. Both mailers kept their subject lines short and concise. The second subject line from The Children's Place, overall was more effective as it also gave me a reason to open their email. See how The Children's Place used a specific offer and the word "free" to get me to act on the message's contents. My Sunday email inbox had one other interesting use of characters worthy of mentioning. One crafty marketer had a smiley character in his "From" line to make his message stand out.
