As my wife and I are both marketers,
we started to discuss how we could
have not only made the sign more
persuasive but also made some money
for the manure owners.
My idea was to use it as a loss leader
so that when people came in to take
some, they also were persuaded to buy
plants and seeds and other related
produce.
However, my wife came up with something
incredibly brilliant.
Instead of having:
"Free Manure! Enquire within."
change it to:
"Take as much manure as you like -
Just 10 pounds!"
Not only would the owner be sure to
make some money, but it would also
mean that the custoemr would feel that
they got the most incredible deal ever.
When I was just getting started in
business, one of my mentors gave
me the most incredible piece of advice
which is quite similar to this:
"Always make the customer feel that they
got the better end of the deal."
If you can always do this whether as an
affiliate or when selling your own product
then you will always do well.
Incidentally, this is also why I am not
a supporter of autoblogging or other
spammy methods which don't give value
to the visitor or ultimately the
customer.
Think about it. It works!
